Melting Ice at Sea and River in Turku

The time between snow melting in the winter and the growth of plants in spring can look pretty depressing, since the trees are all without leaves and the plants on the ground look dead. I took some pictures from walks around a few places during this time, which might convey that mood. Here are a few of those from the island of Ruissalo in the city of Turku and from the coast of the Aurajoki River in the area of Halinen in the city itself.

Ruissalo is an island of the coast of Turku. The are many trails there for walking or bike riding, and I took these pictures while walking through one that went close to the coast there. While there was almost no snow on the island, the sea still had plenty of ice, that was in the process of melting.

Halinen in the city has a trail going along the Aurajoki River, where there is more nature than in the rest of the city.
