Evening Hike at the Coastal Cliffs of Kemiö

The Kemiö (or Kimitoön) Island is a large island in the Baltic Sea near the coast of south-western Finland. The island has small hills and coastal cliffs all over it. On the south-western part of the island, at Purunpää, there is a nature trail going to the coastal cliffs and hills from where there is a very pretty view of the sea. The nature trail at Purunpää goes first trough some forests on the hills before getting to the coastal cliffs and then decending to sea level (depending on the direction of travel). I took these pictures from a hike around the trail in december. While it was winter, there was not much snow or ice anywhere, which was good for safety when walking around the cliffs.

There is some typical coastal forest before getting to the cliffs. The trail here goes along a dirt road which is very easy to walk through.

Some very nice views are visible immediately after getting out of the forest and to the cliffs. I was there in the evening so it was a bit dark in the shadows already. There is an endless amount of small island in the horizon and the open sea is not visible from here. With no snow or ice, it is pretty easy to walk around the cliffs.

When I had gotten to sea level, the sun was already setting. I got a very nice last view of the sun before it disappeared in the clouds at horizon. From here the trail goes back to the forest road where it started from.
