A Winter Evening Walk at Yyteri Beach

The Yyteri beach is located near the city of Pori in Western Finland on the coast of the Baltic Sea. It is a popular location during summer, but I went there for a walk during winter while taking these pictures. The beach is large in comparison to other finnish beaches, but it still does not take long the walk from one end to the other, which I did. While it was winter, there was not much snow due to warmer weather and the beach looked almost like it did in summer, but almost empty.

The path to the beach goes past these small dunes that make the place look like a small desert before getting to the beach. There were signs saying that walking on the dunes is not allowed, which I believe are recent since they weren’t there when I was here a few years ago.

These pictures were taken in late december during winter. While it was pretty cold, it did not feel like winter since there was almost no snow and the beach looked liked it did in summer. I did eventually find a single frozen puddle at the beach, which showed a pretty reflection of the sky in its ice.

I did also get to see the sunset at the beach. At least until clouds covered the sky. It was still pretty, as they always are.
