Urban and Rural Scenes on the Coast of the Kymi River

The Kymi River is a river in Southern Finland going through the city of Kotka before ending in the sea. During a visit to Kotka, I walked from a port past some parks near the coast of the sea (pictures of which are at this link) and to the Kymi River which near which I walked a bit inland. The pictures here are from some urban areas on the coast of the sea, near the river, and from near the coast of the river. I originally wanted to do a longer trip around the city and along the river, but I ended up traveling only a short path up the river to some rural areas and then back.

The urban area on the Kotkansaari island has a lot of beatiful old architecture, but I only traveled along the coast, so I did not get much pictures of those areas. Close to the coast, there was much more nature instead.

From the islands, I traveled close to the Kymi River towards the more rural areas. The are several branches of the river going through parts of the city and there are pretty scenes along the paths on its coast.

Near the city, there are some rural areas along the Kymi River. I had wanted to go for a longer trip, but I ran out of film once I got to an area called Kaukola, where the last pictures are from.
