Winter Swampland, Torronsuo

Torronsuo is a large swamp and a national park in Forssa, South-Western Finland. I visited Forssa in december of 2022 and I decided to check out what this swamp looked liked in the winter. I did not prepare going to Torronsuo, I just decided to visit while I was there. I also had no idea if the swamp was actually passable during winter or if there was too much snow.

When I went there, part of the path through the swamp was passable. Much of it was difficult to walk through because of the snow, so I only walked a short path in the swamp. Here are some pictures I took from the path. The weather was not great as clouds blocked the sky and there was some snow falling occasionally. The path started in the forest surrounding the swamp and continued to the swamp itself.

The swamp is surrounded by an area of forests. They make the hills in the distance look almost like very large when fog distorts the view. Also near the swamp is a shooting range. I could hear shooting when I was walking on the path and I wondered what it was at first. Then I did remember that I saw the the shooting range on the map.

Even though I only traveled a small path in the swamp, the snow on the path made it slow and difficult to walk. By the time I got to an observation tower, the Sun was already setting as it had taken a long time to walk through the snow.
